Fábio Hazin (1964-2021)

O Instituto Brasileiro de Direito do Mar (IBDMAR) lamenta profundamente o falecimento do Professor Fábio Hissa Vieira Hazin, ocorrido no dia de hoje, 7 de junho de 2021. Membro do Departamento de Pesca e Aquicultura da Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE), o Professor Hazin participou ativamente de diversas negociações internacionais dedicadas à gestão sustentável dos recursos pesqueiros. Ele foi presidente da Comissão Internacional para a Conservação do Atum Atlântico (CICAA) entre 2007 e 2011 e também presidiu o Comitê de Pesca da Organização das Nações Unidas para a Alimentação e a Agricultura (FAO) entre 2014 e 2016. No âmbito do IBDMAR, o Professor Hazin era membro do Conselho Consultivo do Brazilian Yearbook of Law of the Sea (BYLOS). Reconhecendo sua importância para o desenvolvimento do Direito do Mar no Brasil, o IBDMAR presta condolências a familiares e amigos.

The Brazilian Institute for the Law of the Sea (BILOS) deeply regrets the death of Professor Fábio Hissa Vieira Hazin, which occurred today, 7 June 2021. Member of the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture at Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), Professor Hazin actively participated in several international negotiations dedicated to the sustainable management of fisheries resources. He was President of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tuna (ICCAT) between 2007 and 2011 and also chaired the Fisheries Committee of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) between 2014 and 2016. At BILOS, Professor Hazin was a member of the Advisory Board of the Brazilian Yearbook of Law of the Sea (BYLOS). Recognizing his importance for the development of the Law of the Sea in Brazil, BILOS offers condolences to family and friends.
