The Brazilian Institute for Law of the Sea (BILOS) will hold, on next Thursday, 25 February 2021, the Seminar on Occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), when the authors will present their chapters published in the book entitled International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea – 25 years of jurisdiction (1996-2021), dedicated to the memory of Professor Vicente Marotta Rangel, who was Judge of ITLOS between 1996 and 2015.
The event will be entirely in Portuguese, except for some interventions at the opening conference. Indeed, at 8:30 AM (GMT-3, Brasília time), Judge Albert J. Hoffmann, President of ITLOS, will give an introductory address in English to celebrate the establishment of ITLOS and the launch of the book dedicated to work of ITLOS and its jurisprudence. In this very first moment, Judge Elsa Kelly, who was a member of ITLOS, between 2011 and 2020, and Judge Óscar Cabello Sarubbi, who has been a member of ITLOS since 2017, will be present as guests of honor of BILOS.
The Seminar will be broadcast freely through the official channel of BILOS on YouTube, without prior registration. However, those who, in addition to attending, wish to receive an electronic certificate of participation in the Seminar, must subscribe for free until the day of the event.
